The Central Malaita Students Association (CMSA) is a multi-dialect and cultural Student Group Consisting of students from Kwara’ae, Langalanga, Kwai and Ngongosila, Malaita Outer Islands, Kwaio and Fataleka.
Our vision and objective is to protect the norms and cultural values of our members while at the same time we enhance our academic knowledge and skills towards the promotion of development and the improvement of living standards in our respective regions.

| Life sentence for murderer at Koa Village |

THE High Court on Friday sentenced a man to life imprisonment in relation to the murder incident at Koa River, Malaita Province, last year.
In a High Court ruling in Auki on Friday, Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer sentenced Fredson Kwaiani to life imprisonment for the stabbing and killing of Steven Albert at Koa River in an incident on January 11, 2005.The deceased died from a single stab wound to his left shoulder.
The incident occurred when Kwaiani, a married teacher from Kwaio, went to Buma Village with the intention to make contact with a female student he had been having an affair with living in Buma Village. Fredson in his statement to the police on January 12 stated that he went to the village following a rumour he heard and wanted to go and find out what it was although the girl’s family did not agree to the relationship.
The court heard that Kwaiani who was drunk at the time entered the village with a knife in his hand but was chased out. It heard that Kwaiani stabbed the victim, who was at the river, during his (Kwaiani’s) escape from the village. Justice Palmer said Kwaiani’s action was done intentionally and not accidentally and that when he stabbed Steven Albert he failed to realise that it would probably cause the death of or grievous bodily harm to the victim.“I find Fredson guilty of the murder of Steven and convict him.“ Since there is only one sentence for murder, life imprisonment, Fredson is sentenced to life imprisonment,” Justice Palmer said. |
