Primary and secondary schools around Auki, Malaita Province raised about six-thousand dollars last Friday for tsunami victims in Western province.
SIBC's correspondent in Auki, Duddley Gani reports that the fundraising drive was organised by Malaita Education division in collaboration with Malaita Provincial Government officers and schools around Auki town.

Gani says the fundraising drive started with a three kilometre march by students, teachers, provincial government workers and friends in and around Auki.
He says when the procession reached the centre of town, other activities such as singing by various groups from around Auki, speeches by organisers and responsible officers continued into the afternoon.
